The Langebaan Peninsula area has 7 bird islands, and with the nutrient rich Benguela current that rushes in twice per day with filter feeders as humble as the sand prawn, it is attracting flamingos and other filter feeders in the West Coast National Park creating a whole habitat enabling the filtering resulting in the crystal-clear waters of Langebaan lagoon.
The lodge echoes some elements of the West Coast kelp forest, with pretty shells washing up ashore with the ebb and flow used as pure poetry in the lodge. Better than any man-made souvenir, these ocean treasures are only found next to a sea lagoon, where there is no river flowing into the sea.
